Adopt-a-Pet

A good first step to adopting any animal is deciding on the breed(s) of dog or cat that will best suit you and your family's needs.

A mixed-breed dog may not be as susceptible to diseases.

One of the best qualities of a mixed-breed dog is that they typically live longer.

Because of genetic changes, mixed-breed dogs are seen as heartier than purebred dogs and tend to have longer lifespans as a result.
The same is largely true for cats as well!

It is wise to do a little homework first, reading books or magazines that give detailed information about the various attributes or deficiencies of the various breeds that are of interest to you.

Hundreds of thousands of homeless animals find their way to animal shelters across the county.

Because of this, we highly recommend that your adoption efforts start at one of these animal shelters.

Successful pet adoption is the goal and at the Newport Beach Animal Shelter, homeless pets stay until they are adopted.
Every one of our animals deserves a chance for a good home.

We are grateful and proud of our Newport Beach Police Department Animal Control staff who oversee the Shelter and adoptions.
